Class of 1959
We, the Class of 1959, celebrated our 50th reunion on April 24 and 25, 2009. This blog is about sharing memories of our class reunions and a long-ago life at our Alma Mater, S.F.X.A. and S.A.H.S. Good memories of days gone by but not forgotten! A gift to my classmates. ~Marian Ann Love ~

Walter Pitts Little, Jr. ~ Obituary
November 14, 1941 ~ December 13, 2013
Walter Pitts Little, Jr, died of congestive heart failure on December 13, 2013 free from fear, being confident of resurrection and eternal life in Christ. Dr. Little was born in Shreveport, LA on November 14, 1941 and was raised in Vicksburg, MS. He attended St. Aloysius High School graduating in the Class of 1959. A graduate of Tulane University School of Medicine (1966), he completed his residency at Charity Hospital, New Orleans in 1970. He served two years in the USAF, subsequent to which he moved to Birmingham. In 1988 Dr. Little founded Dermatopathology Services and served as its president until his retirement in 1997. He also held a masters in theological studies, was board certified in anatomical and clinical pathology, and was certified to demonstrate special competence in dermatopathology. Walter found great happiness in learning, applying his knowledge to difficult diagnostic problems, and especially in the particular joy that is teaching. Upon his retirement from the clinical faculty at UAB, his former students established and endowed the Walter P. Little Award to fund a stipend granted annually to an outstanding resident in the Department of Dermatology. Dr. Little was predeceased by his parents, Walter Pitts and Ethel Marie Little, and his wife, Jane. Survivors include his wife, Nancy; brother, Philip (Ruth); children: Elizabeth Little Allen (Paul), Walter Little, III (Mary), Frances Little, Wendi Webb Thomas (Jeff), Kimberlee Benos (Phillip Probst), Michael Webb (Lib), Laura Warner (Carl Stanton), Jennifer Kennedy (Matthew), and Charles Warner (Christy); as well as twenty-five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. There will be no visitation prior to the memorial service, which will be held at the Cathedral Church of the Advent on Tuesday, December 17 at 1:00. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your favorite charity.
