Classics in the Courtyard was held yesterday with the Patrick Smith Band playing and lunch was enjoyed and catered by Palmertree Catering Service. Afterwards, I was able to go inside our old school and take some pictures. I hope to go upstairs next Friday and take pictures of our high school classrooms.
Long hallway to the gym - First door on right at end of hall was our first grade taught by Sister Mary Cyrena. 2nd Grade was directly across and was taught by Miss Frances Herbert. 3rd Grade by Sister Mary Josephus. 4th Grade by Sister Mary Angela and 5th Grade by Sister Mary Giles.
6th Grade Classroom taught by Sister Mary Freda.
7th & 8th Grade Classroom taught by Sister Mary John.
We would buy our supplies here at this door on left. Not sure what the smaller door was for unless it was a break room for the nuns.
Decorative chairs along the side of the wall next to our 7th & 8th Grade Classroom.
Looking down the hall towards the auditorium.
Principal's Office and Nurses Station was next to one another. Next two doors was our Biology and Chemistry rooms together.
Room to the left was our choir room where we practice singing. Most of the classroom now are used for ballroom dancing, art and cooking classes, guitar lessons, workshops or whatever.
Staircase to high school and the door was opened to the auditorium.
Standing on the stage in the auditorium. We had many graduations, plays, dances, spaghetti dinners and at one time was used as a church when St. Paul's Catholic Church was destroyed when a tornado hit December 5, 1953. Also, a scene from the movie, O Brother, Where Art Thou? was filmed here. Weddings, receptions, performances, reunions, lectures, business meetings, arts and crafts shows are held here now.
Going out the back door to the upper courtyard where the Classics in the Courtyard are held.
Looking down towards the tunnels leading in and out of the buildings that cover a whole city block.
