Class of 1959

We, the Class of 1959, celebrated our 50th reunion on April 24 and 25, 2009. This blog is about sharing memories of our class reunions and a long-ago life at our Alma Mater, S.F.X.A. and S.A.H.S. Good memories of days gone by but not forgotten! A gift to my classmates. ~Marian Ann Love ~

Little Richard - When He Was Little!

Our classmate, Walter Little, sent this to me today and wanted to share it with y'all.

Walter said...Watch how he uses his fists and elbows and doesn't even look at the keys when he sings! This is amazing to see. It's Richard Wayne Penniman (aka Little Richard) about fifteen years before "Tutti Frutti, Oh, Rudy...."A-whop bop-a-lu bop a-whop bam boom!"

Here is some very rare footage of "Little Richard" as a child, when he was just starting out in the music biz', from a movie with Van Johnson.

Thanks Walter - that was fun to see!

THE NEW ALPHABET

The New Alphabet :

A is for apple, and B is for boat, That used to be right, but now it won't float! Age before beauty is what we once said, But let's be a bit more realistic instead.

Now The Alphabet:
A's for arthritis; B's the bad back, C's the chest pains, perhaps car-di-ac?
D is for dental decay and decline, E is for eyesight, can't read that top line! is for flatulence and fluid retention, Gis for gut droop, which I'd rather not mention.
H high blood pressure--I'd rather it low; I for incisions with scars you can show. is for joints, out of socket, won't mend, K is for knees that crack when they bend. L 's for libido, what happened to sex? M is for memory, I forget what comes next. N is neuralgia, in nerves way down low;O is for osteo, bones that don't grow!
P for prescriptions, I have quite a few, just give me a pill and I'll be good as new! Q is for queasy, is it fatal or flu? Ris for reflux, one meal turns to two.
S is for sleepless nights, counting my fears, T is for Tinnitus; bells in my ears! U is for urinary; troubles with flow; V for vertigo, that's 'dizzy,' you know..

W for worry, now what's going 'round? X is for X ray, and what might be found. Y for another year I'm left here behind, Z is for zest I still have-- in my mind!

I've survived all the symptoms, my body's deployed,
and I'm keeping twenty-six doctors fully employed!

Alabama Chapter of the Class of '59

I receive an email from Phillip yesterday with attached pictures and said that they finally had another meeting.  The meeting was held at the Top of the River in Guntersville, AL and it was good to get together again.  Below are a couple of pictures of the meeting.  The first picture is taken inside the restaurant.  The person on the left you may not know is Dickie’s stepson – Clay Abrahm.  The second picture is taken outside after we ate.

News From Old SFXA

Piazza Plumbing foreman Johnny Piazza uses a mini-excavator to remove concrete from the parking lot of the Southern Cultural Heritage Center (formerly SFXA) in order to repair a broken water line Wednesday. The crew expects to finish the 200-foot water line repair by Friday (yesterday).
