Prayers For Larry Miller

Please keep our classmate, Larry Miller (Class of 1959), in your prayers. Larry is suffering from Amyloidosis, which is a disease that occurs when substances called amyloid proteins build up in your organs. It affects the heart, kidneys, liver, spleen, nervous system and gastrointestinal tract. Amyloidosis is rare, and the exact cause is often unknown.

As soon as I can get an update on him, I will post here on our site.

Walter Is Improving

Walter was able to post on Facebook Sunday and for those who are not on the site...this is what he had to say.

After nearly 3 weeks in ICU, with an astoundingly awful case of ICU brain, I seem to be on the mend, at last able to recall what day it is. All part of a redo aortic valve and root replacement. Thanks to my wonderful family and friends!

Please continue to keep him in your prayers for a speedy recovery.

Walter's Condition

Per Classmate Phillip

Walter had a major fibrillation event early yesterday morning and had to be taken in for emergency surgery to install a defibrillator.  He’s doing OK, but the doctors consider him to be in unstable condition.  He is also undergoing another round of dialysis today, and probably will tomorrow too.  Kidneys still not functioning.  Next week they will have to move the port currently installed for dialysis in order to reduce the possibility of infection.  He has really had some tough sledding.

Wish I had better news.  Will let you know as events occur.

My update:  Home from shoulder surgery yesterday and on the mend...thanks so much for all your prayers.

May God Bless each and every one of our classmates suffering health issues.

I received a phone call from our classmate, Theresa Martin Kitowski, over the weekend and said she is home now recuperating from her back surgery. It will be a very long recovery time and I know it would help and cheer her up to hear from her classmates. When you have time dropped her a get well card - I know it will brighten her day!  Also, keep her in your prayers!

Classmate Having Back Surgery

Please keep our classmate, Theresa Ann Martin Kitowski, in your prayers in the coming days.  She will be having a five-hour back surgery Monday, September 9, 2013.  After surgery she will be going into a nursing home to recuperate.  I will be posting updates here as I receive them on her progress.  ~Marian

Update from her brother, Gene Martin:
She came through the surgery okay.  They ran into more than anticipated, and was in surgery for 7 hours. Didn't get back to her room until after 10:30 the other night and still on a lot of pain meds.  Talked  to her this morning, she sounded pretty good.  Going to go to rehab facility for a week before going home.

Update (9/17/13) from her brother Gene and sister Rita:  Please continue to keep Theresa in your prayers.  She is not doing very well and has issues with her rehab now.

Gene and Rita,
Theresa's recovery is in our prayers and you all are remembered at our hour of adoration. God bless.
Bill and Juliet Adams

I send my very best wishes to Theresa and keep her speedy recovery in my heart.  I understand that back some back surgeries take significantly longer to heal than others.  May she suffer as little as possible.
Best regards, Jack Baker

Update (9-22-13) from her brother Gene - Still in same facility. They did take her back across town for her 7th day check since surgery. Took her in a van poorly equipped for that type transport. Said due to the extensive surgery, recovery will be longer than anticipated, looking at 6 months now. Will be in this facility another few weeks. Still having pain.

Gene said he would get an address soon and will post it here if anyone would like to send her a Get Well card. Marian

Update (9-23-13) Please send Get Well wishes to her home address:

2013 ~ St. Al/St. Francis Alumni Banquet

  Click on program to enlarge.

The B.B. Club is really a beautiful place for an event such as a wedding reception, etc.  It is a historic building that dates back to 1915 and was originally the B'nai B'rith literary club (a sort of Jewish country club). There is even still a swimming pool in the basement!

Notice this dog across the street on the back of a motorcycle guarding and waiting for his master's return.  Don't see this everyday!

Terri Matherne with her husband who had a son to graduate, Tyler Joseph Matherne.  I used to work with Terri at the Vicksburg Convention Center after I retired from my government job and we were also neighbors.  I remember their two sons when they were little tykes!  My how time flies!  A beautiful couple and family.

Lovely arrangements of roses on each table.

Hopefully, with the next Alumni Banquet our Class of 1959 will get together for our 55th class reunion.  It's hard to believe I started this blog about 6 years ago for our 50th Class Reunion...now it will soon be 55 years.  I hope we can all get together again.  It will be wonderful to see everyone.  It's sad to say that we have lost two of our classmates last year since we have met.  They were high school sweethearts, Roy and Katherine Turcotte.  May they both rest in peace!
