Class of 1959

We, the Class of 1959, celebrated our 50th reunion on April 24 and 25, 2009. This blog is about sharing memories of our class reunions and a long-ago life at our Alma Mater, S.F.X.A. and S.A.H.S. Good memories of days gone by but not forgotten! A gift to my classmates. ~Marian Ann Love ~

SAHS Class of 1959~Louis

~Louis H. Logue, Jr.~
After graduation in 1959, Louis "Sonny" Logue attended Mississippi State and "eventually" got a Civil Engineer degree and went to work for Louisiana Power & Light in New Orleans. However, before he graduated in 1966, he met and married Wanda Andrews from Columbus (a "W" girl). Robert, Jackie, Ivan and Mickey were in his wedding.
Wanda and Sonny had three children in New Orleans before moving back to Vicksburg in 1972 and working with the Corps of Engineers in charge of a Design Unit. In 1976 the family moved to Saudi Arabia with the Corps and he was a Program Manager for construction of a Port in Jeddah and a Military City just south of Kuwait.
In 1981 they moved back to Vicksburg where he was in charge of River Operations with the Corps, Mississippi River Commission and where their three children grew up, got married and they now have 6 grandchildren.
He was involved in Habitat for Humanity for several years, taught CCD at St. Paul's for many years and after retirement, taught "Religion" Class of 9th, 10th, and 11 graders at St. Aloysius. Yea, me -- a real live Brother Ashton, he said. He even gave them some of Ashton's spook lectures.
Last year, as he was enjoying the fruits of retirement, golf, deer hunting, and fishing, when some friends talked him into doing some consulting engineering work back in New Orleans and that's where he is today; at least for another six months. Then, it's back to the tough retirement stuff.
His most memorable memories include, riding in the "Buick" and the "Studebaker", playing football, watching Larry and Walter enjoying their beer, welcoming George back to the Senior trip, seeing how much the milk man grew in one summer, swimming at Redwood, paying a quarter to get in the Joy Theatre, sweeping two leaves around the yard while Matthew worked over Skeeter, recess on the big yard, ordering a hamburger sandwich style at the Dixieland, taking an Irish lass to the Prom and dancing with Vera.
Talked to Jack Hebert (Brother Cecil) last week and he is still living with each of our memories, he said.
Hope to see you all in April!!
