In Memory/Celebration Of Classmate

Our dear friend Katherine Meyer Turcotte, Class of 1959, passed away recently. In her memory, and in celebration of her wonderful basketball career at St. Francis Xavier, her sons are donating retro uniforms for the girls’ team at Vicksburg Catholic School. Once each year a scheduled game will be played in which the current girls’ team will wear the retro uniforms. The fun part for all of us who cherish our memories of great high school basketball is we are to be the invited guests at this game! The date chosen for this season is January 11th, 2013 against Natchez Cathedral, at 6:00 PM.

PLEASE, if you have phone numbers and/or email addresses for anyone – especially girls from the 50’s and 60’s who would have known Katherine – PLEASE give them the above information OR contact Myrtle Loviza Curro Alvarado at mlcurro@att.net or 601-661-0847.

We’ll have a pot-luck get together for all former players on Thursday night, January 10th in the School Cafeteria at 6:00 PM. It will be fun sharing memories with Katherine’s boys and each other. St. Francis Xavier has an enviable history of girls’ basketball – AND they have a very good team this year, so ALL FORMER SFXA and VCS GIRLS’ basketball players, managers and coaches are invited and encouraged to join us.

Please let us hear from you.
