Class of 1959

We, the Class of 1959, celebrated our 50th reunion on April 24 and 25, 2009. This blog is about sharing memories of our class reunions and a long-ago life at our Alma Mater, S.F.X.A. and S.A.H.S. Good memories of days gone by but not forgotten! A gift to my classmates. ~Marian Ann Love ~

Prayers For Larry Miller

Please keep our classmate, Larry Miller (Class of 1959), in your prayers. Larry is suffering from Amyloidosis, which is a disease that occurs when substances called amyloid proteins build up in your organs. It affects the heart, kidneys, liver, spleen, nervous system and gastrointestinal tract. Amyloidosis is rare, and the exact cause is often unknown.

As soon as I can get an update on him, I will post here on our site.

Vera's Brother-in-law Dies

Vera Marshall Brown's (Class of 1959) brother-in-law, Donald, died recently and will be buried tomorrow in Florida. Donald Brown was a native of Vicksburg and attended Redwood High School.  Vera and her husband, George, will be attending his funeral.  May he rest in peace!

Walter Is Improving

Walter was able to post on Facebook Sunday and for those who are not on the site...this is what he had to say.

After nearly 3 weeks in ICU, with an astoundingly awful case of ICU brain, I seem to be on the mend, at last able to recall what day it is. All part of a redo aortic valve and root replacement. Thanks to my wonderful family and friends!

Please continue to keep him in your prayers for a speedy recovery.

Walter's Condition

Per Classmate Phillip

Walter had a major fibrillation event early yesterday morning and had to be taken in for emergency surgery to install a defibrillator.  He’s doing OK, but the doctors consider him to be in unstable condition.  He is also undergoing another round of dialysis today, and probably will tomorrow too.  Kidneys still not functioning.  Next week they will have to move the port currently installed for dialysis in order to reduce the possibility of infection.  He has really had some tough sledding.

Wish I had better news.  Will let you know as events occur.

My update:  Home from shoulder surgery yesterday and on the mend...thanks so much for all your prayers.

May God Bless each and every one of our classmates suffering health issues.

Prayers Needed For Classmates

Our classmate, Walter Little, recently had two valve replacements and two bypasses. He has been moved from ICU to a private room according to our classmate, Phillip Doiron.  Please keep Walter in your prayers while he recovers from his operation.

As for myself, I will be having surgery Friday, Oct. 18th.  I have a complete rupture of my rt. rotator cuff.  Please keep me in your prayers as well for a speedy recovery.

To all our classmates who are having health issues, we pray in God's name. Amen

Theresa Home From Back Surgery

I received a phone call from our classmate, Theresa Martin Kitowski, over the weekend and said she is home now recuperating from her back surgery. It will be a very long recovery time and I know it would help and cheer her up to hear from her classmates. When you have time dropped her a get well card - I know it will brighten her day!  Also, keep her in your prayers!

Thanks classmates!

Rosalye at the California coastline recently.  Thankful that she is still able to trek to beautiful places like this, she said. Looking good classmate!
