The Sodality Page by editors, Linda Melsheimer and Betty McIntyre of the Maryon, has seven entries. (Will post an entry a day)
We want to take this occasion to welcome the Sophomores as members of the Sodality. On December 8, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, the members of the High School Sodality attending Mass in a body. After Mass the Sophomores were received into the Sodality. As they made the act of Consecration to the Blessed Virgin Mary, they promised to abide by the rules, to foster devotion to Mary, to sanctify self and others by giving good example.
They were then serve breakfast in the cafeteria by other members of the Sodality. (Taken from the 1956 Maryon)
Class of 1959
We, the Class of 1959, celebrated our 50th reunion on April 24 and 25, 2009. This blog is about sharing memories of our class reunions and a long-ago life at our Alma Mater, S.F.X.A. and S.A.H.S. Good memories of days gone by but not forgotten! A gift to my classmates. ~Marian Ann Love ~

Goodbye! Farewell! Thanks!
GOODBYE!!
With a great feeling of sadness, the girls of S.F.X.A. learned of the sudden departure of Father Nicholas Filippich. We will always remember Father as a man with an outstanding personality. Good luck, Father!!!!!
FAREWELL!!
This is one of the saddest times of the year, when we must bid our beloved Seniors goodbye. It just won't seem the same without your faces being around next year. We know we have had our disagreements Seniors but we have had our fund too. That we will not forget. We hope that we, in the year to come, came make an impression on the Juniors and the rest of the school, as you have on us. Goodbye and God Bless You! Please remember us, the juniors of '56, for we shall never forget you!
THANKS!!
This small space is inadequate to express the deep feeling of love and appreciation for all the Sisters have done. They have made this year, '56, one that we will never forget. We are sorry for all the trouble and worry we have caused you in the past. We hope that next year finds us all with resolutions to be better!! We, the Juniors, want to particularly thank Sister Mary Rita, our sponsor for all she has done for us in making the Junior Year one that we never can nor will forget. Editorial ~ Maryon
Yes, it is here at last!! The time of the year that everyone, students and teachers alike have looked forward to with mixed emotions is upon us. The Seniors have reached the point of no return. Soon they will graduate. The Juniors will have safely gotten their coveted rings and will have become the Seniors of S.F.X.A. The Sophomores will have stepped in the realms of the upperclassmen. The Freshmen will no longer be green. They will secretly await the coming of the new group of Freshmen so that they can show them the ropes and the Sisters! What would we be without them, and their guidance? We have all, at one time or another, resented the correction of our superiors. But we know now, that it was all for our own good, and for the good of the school.
Now that summer is here, we must not forget all the sisters have tried to teach us. We must govern our actions in the coming months so that they will become a credit to our school and a joy to our teachers. We must not, above all, forget Our Lord. Who too, would like to hear from us. Daily Mass and Communion assures him that you have not forgotten him, and He will reward you for it. Let's all thank God for the last year, and resolve to make the next year one that we shall always remember.

Maryon
May 17, 1956
Dear Sisters and Students:
The time has come again for the initiation of the Juniors into their job of putting out their first Maryon. It is customary for us to bid you farewell through our school paper, and it is with mixed emotions that we bid you adui. We have enjoyed working on the Maryon Staff. It gave us a sense of pride seeing our own articles and dummies typed, stenciled, and compiled into the Maryon.
To the new Co-Editors, Joyce and Betty Rose, and to the whole new staff, we send congratulations. Under their able leadership, we know that the Maryon will have a successful year. So Good Luck girls, and don't get discouraged.
Soon the Seniors will put on their caps and gowns and take leave of S.F.X.A. Even in the midst of presents and parties, book-reports and exams, we find ourselves thinking frequently of the teachers and friends we are leaving behind.
We would like to take this opportunity to say farewell to the students. Throughout high school you have been the best examples of loyalty and true friendship. We've had a good time with you, girls, and we're going to miss each and every one of you!
To the sisters we'd like to express our sincere gratitude for all they have done for us. When we meet and, with the help of God's grace, are able to answer the challenges that will come later, we will know that we would never have amounted to anything without your help. Thank you, sisters.
Merrily we've rattled on, and now we're rattling out!
Love you all,
Bea and Delia

Alumnae Hymn
Oh, Mary, we hail Thee, Thou
virgin most mild,
Fair Spouse of Jehovah whose Son
is thy child,
The Angels of heaven thy glory
proclaim,
And all generations of earth bless thy name.
We wander adrift on life's
In storm and in tempest we call
upon thee
Bright star in the heaven, thy
radiant light
Illumines our pathway and banishes
night.
Oh, Mother of God, in thy Son's
holy love,
Protect us and guide us to His
throne above.
When life's weary journey is over
and past
Oh, lead us to Jesus in heaven
at last.

Alice Blue Gown
Verse:
You once were a child so young and
so free
When you started to school you were
three and three;
But each year you've studied, and
now here you are
We're right glad to see you've gotten
so far.
It is May - - it is May - - it is May
You'll leave the school and go on your way.
Chorus:
To the seniors of S.F.X.A.
With a smile we graciously say
We are glad to be here
To present robes so dear
For we know you're deserved them
These white caps and gowns.
You have dreamed of them every so long
Now your wish has come true with a song
It's near graduation
We feel your elation
In these long hoped-for white caps and gowns.

Always
I'll be loving you, Always ~
with a love that's true
Always ~ When the things you've
need a helping hand,
I will understand, Always, Always ~
Days may not be fair, Always ~
That's when I'll be there, Always ~
Not for just a hour, Not for just a
day
Not for just a year, But always,
Always.
