Class of 1959

We, the Class of 1959, celebrated our 50th reunion on April 24 and 25, 2009. This blog is about sharing memories of our class reunions and a long-ago life at our Alma Mater, S.F.X.A. and S.A.H.S. Good memories of days gone by but not forgotten! A gift to my classmates. ~Marian Ann Love ~

Bob went to work for Crawford & Company Insurance Adjusters and was sent to Lima, Ohio, then to Findlay, Ohio and eventually to New York City. He was then transferred to New Orleans and in January 1976 promoted to the Home Office in Atlanta. In October 1985 he was hired away from Crawford by AIG and was CEO of AIAC - The claim arm for AIG. He left AIG in January 1990 and was Vice President of Operations for Lindsey Newsom Claims Service in Tyler, Texas. In August 1991 he was recruited by Nationwide Insurance Company in Columbus, Ohio as CEO for Gates-McDonald, a company owned T.P.A. In April 1994 Gay & Taylor/Thomas Howell moved them to Atlanta, GA where he was elected Vice President. The company was sold in 1995 and he went to work for GAB Robins Claims as Southern Regional Vice President in Atlanta. GAB was sold in 1998 and moved to Palm Coast, Florida. He was in the powerboat sales/service industry until 2004 when he went into real estate full time. He works for Hammock Sotheby's International Realty in Palm Coast as a Broker Associate.

Today, Bob enjoys boating, tennis, golf and riding his Goldwing motorcycle. He is active in The Association of Realtors, Goldwing Club, Relay for Life and Habitat for Humanity.

St. Aloysius holds fond memories - but he can't say anyone Brother was his favorite. They were all good men on a mission. His favorite school memories was the undefeated 1959 football team and competing in the State Basketball tournament. Also, the closeness of his graduating class because most of them went from the first grade to graduation together.

Bob feels blessed with a wonderful life partner, three great kids and five granddaughters. The Good Lord has been good to him and for the most part everyone has been healthy. He looks forward to seeing his classmates next year.

Today, July 16, 2008, I receive a very nice e-mail from Robert Witty and he wrote and said, "Your web blog is great and I enjoyed reading some of the comments." He goes on to say, I am married to Sally Van Tilborg and we have three daughters and five granddaughters. Our children now are Julie and Jazzie a couple of Yorkies who keep us busy. I ride a Goldwing motorcycle, play tennis, golf and go boating when I have time, as Real Estate is a full time occupation. I invite any of my past friend to call if they are ever in this area. Palm Coast is 1 hour South of Jacksonville on I-95. He looks forward to 2009 and our reunion. In closing, Robert said, "I'm attaching a couple of pictures so I won't get confused with anyone else."
